New Mexico is where Afterwrk is launching, and the only state currently accepting applications.
Afterwrk is now accepting qualified venue applications in New Mexico. New Mexico expressly contemplates tobacco-product vending in age-controlled locations where minors are not permitted, which is why it is the launch market rather than one of three equal ones.
What is launching here
A fully managed program: Afterwrk buys and owns the machine, holds the tobacco retail licence for the venue's address where law allows, stocks the machine, services it, and pays the venue an agreed share of sales. The venue provides a wall, power, connectivity and a door policy that is 21+ at all times.
Who qualifies
- The premises is restricted to guests aged 21 and over at all times.
- Entry is controlled and identification is actually checked.
- There is a wall position visible to staff, with power and connectivity in reach.
- The venue can give written permission for Afterwrk to operate at that address.

The regulatory picture, briefly
Federal rules set the floor: no tobacco-product vending in a facility where people under 21 are present or permitted to enter at any time. New Mexico's Tobacco Products Act then contemplates vending in age-controlled locations where minors are not permitted, and attaches licensing, signage and age-verification obligations. City and county rules can be stricter than the state's.
